The Maldives’ Fari Islands: from breakfast to dinner

Our luxury travel magazine explored the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, it has already established a reputation for its numerous restaurant and gourmet offerings.

Guests may enjoy a diverse cuisine with seven different culinary settings ranging from high-end dining and seaside luxury to wellness-focused evenings. Beach Shack features shared platters and grilled seafoods, as well as buckets of blue water prawns that may be washed down with buckets of outstanding grape rosé, all inspired by the carefree ambience and easygoing cuisines of the Mediterranean.

This modern Chinese cuisine restaurant serves modest meals in the Summer Pavilion, a magnificent lantern-inspired overwater setting. Not to be missed is their stir-fried lobster, which is meant to be shared and coupled with excellent Chinese teas and wine from their extensive wine list. IWAU, which translates to “celebrate” in Japanese, offers another upmarket eating experience. Under a starry sky, this open-air restaurant offers sake and the greatest sushi. La Locanda provides spicy flavors of southern Italy in the mornings and a Sicilian fritto misto in the afternoons to ardent Italian food fans.

We strongly recommend stopping by Eau Bar, which has a relaxing yet trendy atmosphere. This beachfront restaurant and bar serves healthful meals, tableside drinks, a hookah experience, and a nightly drum and fire ritual. Two of the resort’s venues are located at Fari Marina, which is an eight-minute dhoni (traditional wooden fishing boat) ride away. Arabesque takes guests on an interesting and delicious trip across hitherto undiscovered cuisines from Lebanon to North India. Dishes are available in addition to magnificent hookahs, Turkish coffee, Moroccan tea, and innovative cocktails.

The second is a street food truck that sells light Asian dishes – a great place to stop for some takeout bao buns in the middle of the day.

We did not, however, forgo breakfast. You really must see it to believe it. A buffet spread across two or three rooms provides everything you could possible desire or didn’t even think you would want, from baked pastries to every imaginable flavor of milk and exotic fruits. If you want to try something more familiar, an à la carte menu is also available on request.
